Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains. Role Definition: Are you looking for an opportunity to learn a specialized skill within a manufacturing environment? Caterpillar Building KK in East Peoria, IL is looking to train new employees that desire to become our next employees in Heat Treat. The Metal Treating Specialist Trainee program is a paid program designed to provide a unique learning experience for highly motivated individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing and learning new skills. Positions available on 2nd and 3rd shifts after 4 - 6 weeks of training on 1st shift. What You Will Do (including but not limited to): Upon completion of the program, individuals will be responsible for: Set up, operation, and adjustment of heat-treat equipment to perform carburizing, cycle annealing and die quenching of gears Physical Qualifications (with or without accommodation). Work in environment with frequently changing temperatures, some extreme. Frequent walking, bending, reaching. Occasional stooping, crouching, and climbing. Repetitive grasping, pushing, pulling rotating. Standing for a minimum of 8 hour shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or previous work/volunteer experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work overtime when required, including weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous heat treat experience.
  • Previous machine shop experience.
  • Strong commitment to safety at all times.
  • Excellent attitude and willingness to learn.
