About The Position
An industrial manufacturing company located in Pottstown, PA is seeking a Metal Shop QC Inspector to join their team. This person will be responsible for inspecting raw materials, in‑process fabrication, and finished metal products to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards. This role ensures that all products leaving the shop meet quality, safety, and performance requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in metal fabrication, machining, or welding environments
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
- Knowledge of welding symbols and inspection criteria
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or similar certification
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
- Familiarity with CNC machining or structural steel fabrication
Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, tape measures, and other precision tools
- Inspect fabricated parts, assemblies, and structural components for defects, accuracy, and workmanship
- Conduct first‑article, in‑process, and final inspections
- Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical specifications
- Complete inspection reports, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action documentation
