About The Position

Delta Star Inc. is seeking a dependable, safety‑minded Metal Prep GP team member to support grinding, surface preparation, masking, and material handling tasks for transformer component production. If you’re eager to learn, develop hands‑on skills, and support high‑quality finishing operations—we want to hear from you! As a Metal Prep GP team member, you’ll perform basic surface prep, grinding, masking, and staging tasks under the guidance of higher‑level metal prep and paint personnel. You’ll maintain organized workspaces, support production flow, and follow strict safety and environmental guidelines while learning the tools, processes, and quality expectations of the role. Your day may include prepping steel components, grinding surfaces, masking parts according to instructions, and staging materials using cranes, hoists, or forklifts (if certified). You’ll help maintain paint and blast booths, complete documentation, and ensure work areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with safety and environmental standards. Collaboration with other production teams is a regular part of the workflow.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Ability to follow safety rules and properly use PPE and material‑handling equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and basic drawings.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; willingness to learn new tools and processes.
  • Ability to operate or learn grinders, sanders, hand tools, power tools, forklifts, hoists, and cranes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and housekeeping.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metal prep, grinding, or manufacturing preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grinding and basic metal prep work on steel components.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, tape measures, scales, and forklifts (if certified).
  • Complete DIRs and required documentation with minimal assistance.
  • Assist with surface prep using grinders, sandpaper, and hand tools.
  • Mask and tape components per work instructions and drawings.
  • Stage, move, and transport materials using cranes, hoists, or forklifts (if certified).
  • Maintain paint booths, blast booths, and metal prep areas in clean, organized condition.
  • Support safe operation of paint equipment and follow all PPE requirements.
  • Follow safety, environmental, hazardous material handling, and housekeeping procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to meet production goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
