Job Description: We are seeking a Metal Fitting Mechanic to join our facility in Canoga Park, California (Los Angeles area). Union position, 2nd shift. Enjoy work/life balance at our Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area) site. At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Candidate must have 5 years of experience working in and around machining, fabrication or welding operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience fitting ducts with compound bends to meet final weld requirements.
  • Experience cleaning and prepping ducts, flanges and manifolds.
  • Experience using grinding and polishing tools.
  • Experience working directly with welders and welded assemblies.
  • Experience reading, comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Finish-form, fit and assemble pre-fabricated parts preparatory to fusion welding, brazing or diffusion bonding and straighten and align distorted assemblies after such operations.
  • Layout, weld, braze or diffusion bond assemblies for assembly, fitting and straightening operations.
  • Build up assemblies composed of pre-fabricated parts which must be finish-formed, trimmed, fitted and located by hand to exacting tolerances. Restore the correct configuration to assemblies which have accumulated distortions or strains in several planes due to welding operations.
  • Build up the initial assembly and check the final fit to other assemblies to ascertain usability of parts and tooling for new assemblies. Perform rework and repair of parts and assemblies.
  • Must have a proven safety record and experience with PPE.
