About The Position

Advantech Industries, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility. We are currently seeking an individual to collaborate with us as a Metal Finisher. The Metal Finisher is responsible for reviewing blueprints and work orders to understand the product specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances, quantities, tolling instructions and fixturing.

Requirements

  • With limited supervision and quality work ethic, functions as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.

  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, read drawings and blueprints, and be familiar with common machine tools.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Department Group Leader, the Metal Finisher is responsible for reviewing blueprints and work orders to understand the product specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances, quantities, tooling instructions and fixturing.
  • Sets up and operates machinery that grinds, smooths and buffs metal parts to achieve the specified finish.
  • Hand and power tools are also used to smooth burrs and sharp edges.
  • Will visually inspect, move, count, tag and pack parts.
  • May use micrometers and gauges to inspect parts.
  • Records job data on work order throughout processes.
