Position Purpose Responsible for generating new business, managing existing customer accounts, and promoting the company’s custom metal fabrication capabilities. This role requires strong technical understanding of metal fabrication processes and the ability to translate customer needs into manufacturable solutions. The representative will work closely with engineering, estimating, and production teams to deliver accurate quotes and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project life cycle.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in sales within metal fabrication, manufacturing, machining, welding, or industrial services.
  • Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (e.g., welding, laser cutting, forming, machining, powder coating).
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
  • Background in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial technology.
  • Experience working with ERP/CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of various metals, tolerances, and fabrication standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within assigned territories or industries.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers, ensuring repeat business and long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct regular site visits, presentations, and product capability demonstrations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and estimating teams to develop accurate quotes, lead times, and project proposals.
  • Provide customers with metal fabrication insights, design-for-manufacturing recommendations, and material selection guidance.
  • Prepare and deliver formal pricing proposals and quotations.
  • Follow up on quotes to close deals while maintaining margin targets.
  • Coordinate internally with production teams to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain CRM records of opportunities, forecasts, interactions, and project status.
  • Track sales targets, project timelines, and follow-up activities.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance and market trends.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, competitors, market pricing, and customer needs.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, and networking activities to promote the company.
  • Other duties as assigned
