The Metadata Librarian oversees the daily operations of the cataloging unit, providing leadership and vision for resource description. This position is responsible for coordinating original, copy, and batch cataloging of library materials in all formats, as well as the associated authority work, quality control, maintenance, and remediation needed for timely and robust access to library collections. Collaborating with colleagues in the Acquisitions and Metadata Services department, as well as public services, collection development, and Special Collections staff, the Metadata Librarian ensures appropriate access to library materials and serves a critical role in evaluating and implementing emerging technologies and best practices.
