Primary Responsibilities Operate and maintain equipment used for collecting and testing steel product samples. Conduct mechanical and metallurgical testing to assess material properties. Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, and quality standards. Job Duties Operate CNC machines, milling/turning tools, drills, band saws, surface grinders, and abrasive cutting saws to obtain test samples. Perform destructive testing, including tensile, impact, and hardness tests. Use polishing and grinding tools to prepare samples for metallurgical examination. Handle physical samples and work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions. Read and use measuring tools such as dial calipers, micrometers, and rulers. Operate handheld spectrometer for chemical analysis of steel. Accurately record test data for use in reports and compliance documents. Follow procedures outlined in quality management systems.
