OSI Optoelectronics is seeking a MES Applications Engineer to implement manufacturing control solutions at Company factories in North America. Based in Hawthorne, California, but regularly scheduled travel to Snoqualmie (WA, US), Tecate (MX) and Toronto (CA) will be expected. This individual's primary work activities will include BU requirements collection, solution proposals, project task/timeline management, solution implementation, user training, and system troubleshooting. They will demonstrate individual initiative to learn the Company’s manufacturing environment and systems for the purpose of formulating viable solutions for internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with focus in an I.T. or Engineering discipline desired. Experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • 3+ years of related work experience needed.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Acquire the knowledge (through self-study) to implement and train on the enterprise MES system platform. Prior exposure to Factorylogix preferred.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally, and able to secure the required travel documents. Travel estimated at 25% - 50% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to electronics and microelectronics manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire the knowledge (through self-study) to implement and train on the MES system.
  • Meet with business stakeholders to collect/document operational requirements.
  • Construct manufacturing engineering documentation, including process flows.
  • Develop/publish implementation and training plans for agreed system solutions.
  • Execute system implementation, training and validation.
  • and escalate promptly to the internal MES support team.
  • Deliver timely direct technical support to factory users; troubleshoot faults and promptly escalate for resolution when necessary.
  • Develop an escalation support plan for off-hours or planned absences.
  • Proactively seek out operational improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other enterprise level application platform owners to facilitate integration.
