About The Position

Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block. Block's Merchant Network & Compliance (MNC) team is seeking a strategic compliance leader to help shape and strengthen our global merchant network ecosystem. As a Compliance Strategist, you'll sit at the intersection of risk, product, and innovation — ensuring we maintain strong partnerships with payment networks and acquiring partners while enabling responsible growth across Square, Cash App, Afterpay, and the broader Block ecosystem. This is not a traditional oversight position. You'll drive systemic improvements, build long-term resilience, and design scalable solutions that address risk at its core. Your work will directly influence how compliance is embedded, operationalized, and evolved across the business. If you're energized by the opportunity to transform compliance into a strategic enabler — not just a control function — this role offers meaningful impact, enterprise-wide visibility, and the chance to help define the next generation of compliance at Block.
