About The Position

As a Merchant, you’ll be the expert for snacks, advocating for our members while driving measurable sales, margin, and category growth. You’ll build strong supplier partnerships, hold vendors accountable, and transform insights into actionable strategies that come to life both in clubs and online. Part visionary and part strategist, you’ll leverage the scale and resources of Sam’s Club to deliver exceptional products, profitable results, and an elevated member experience. What you'll do... Category Growth & Profitability : Achieve or exceed sales, margin, and inventory health targets for chips through strategic assortment planning, pricing, and supplier performance. Build Supplier Partnerships : Cultivate strong supplier relationships to ensure 95%+ OTIF, introduce new and exciting items for our members, drive category growth, secure competitive costs, and deliver sustainable shared growth. Financial Excellence : Monitor category KPIs, analyze market trends, and make agile product decisions (including markdowns) to protect profitability. Omni-Channel Strategy : Develop integrated plans for in-club and online sales, optimizing product mix based on member shopping behavior. Bring Trends to Life : Use market data and member insights to introduce compelling, on-trend products that inspire members and elevate their shopping experience. Inventory Optimization : Improve in-stocks to reach a goal of 98.5%, enhance sell-through rates, and optimize inventory at the club level to ensure efficiency and availability. Club of the Community : Source local items and tailor assortments to the unique needs of each club—bringing in products that reflect community tastes, highlight regional favorites, and support local suppliers. Lead with Collaboration : Partner across replenishment, supply chain, marketing, and finance to bring strategies to life and deliver results together. How You’ll Make an Impact Execute Strategy : Translate the division’s strategic vision into a clear category plan with measurable performance metrics. Lead with Influence : Partner cross-functionally with suppliers, replenishment, supply chain, marketing, and finance to deliver results, influencing across teams and leading with accountability even without direct authority. Own Your Business : Make critical decisions on assortment, pricing, supplier selection, packaging, and supply chain flow. Think Ahead : Anticipate market shifts and member needs, positioning your category for both everyday, seasonal, and long-term growth

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising , or related field and 3 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area OR 5 years’ experience in merchandising, buying, financial planning, operations, or related area.

  • The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
  • Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
  • Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
