About The Position

At Metrocrest Resale, every donation and purchase directly supports the vital programs of Metrocrest Services, including food assistance, housing stability, job readiness, and senior services. The Merchandising Processing Specialist plays a key role in advancing Metrocrest Services' mission by transforming donated goods into revenue that funds life-changing community programs. This position receives, processes, prices, and stocks donated merchandise to maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready sales floor. This role is ideal for someone who starts with a YES attitude, works efficiently with purpose, and takes pride in creating a welcoming, joyful shopping experience for customers and donors alike.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of retail, merchandising, or thrift store experience
  • Must be available to work five days a week between the hours of 9:00 AM and 6:30 PM Monday through Friday (hours and M-F schedule may vary) and every Saturday.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet daily production goals.
  • Ability to learn quickly through on-the-job training
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing donation volume and production needs.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Positive, flexible attitude with the ability to multitask
  • Professional communication and positive representation of Metrocrest Services
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to provide excellent customer and donor service
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-hour shift)
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Maintain stamina in a fast-paced retail environment

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years working in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Non-profit thrift store experience
  • Experience working with volunteers or supervising small teams
  • Basic computer skills (POS, Word, Excel, email)

Responsibilities

  • Inspect donations for safety, completeness, and resale quality
  • Price and tag merchandise accurately according to store guidelines
  • Identify premium, vintage, or boutique-worthy items and fast-track them appropriately
  • Meet daily production and processing goals while maintaining presentation standards
  • Assign and guide volunteers in daily processing tasks as directed by leadership
  • Transport processed merchandise to the sales floor and stock by category.
  • Maintain neat, organized, and customer-ready displays
  • Support merchandise rotation and restocking to ensure fresh product flow.
  • Provide courteous assistance to customers and donors as needed
  • Keep donation intake, processing, and sales areas clean, safe, and free of hazards.
  • Follow all safety and operational procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, providing guidance when needed.
  • Assist in other store areas as required to support overall operations.
