About The Position

The Merchandising Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and optimizing the performance of the merchandising team across all assigned territories. This role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and accountability for execution standards, team development, and customer satisfaction. The Manager ensures alignment between merchandising, sales, and operations while driving efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement across all functions.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with relevant computer systems and software (e.g., Encompass or similar tools)

  • High level of professionalism and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong decision-making skills, attention to detail, and time management capabilities
  • Knowledge of geographic areas and territory management

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop merchandisers and trainers to ensure high performance, accountability, and adherence to company standards
  • Oversee onboarding, training programs, and ongoing development initiatives to build a strong, capable team
  • Establish and enforce operational standards for vehicle usage, safety, backroom procedures, stocking, rotation, display execution, and route efficiency
  • Manage workforce planning, including route coverage, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet business demands
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and administer disciplinary actions as needed
  • Oversee fleet management, including vehicle assignments, compliance, and routine inspections for safety and condition
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail accounts, ensuring service excellence and acting as an escalation point for issue resolution
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Grocery Managers, and leadership teams to plan and execute resets, promotions, and seasonal/holiday strategies
  • Lead strategic planning for holidays and high-volume periods, aligning staffing and execution plans at least four weeks in advance
  • Ensure data accuracy and operational efficiency within systems (e.g., Encompass), including auditing usage, analyzing reports, and driving improvements
  • Monitor team productivity and performance metrics, identifying trends and implementing process improvements
  • Promote a positive, professional team culture and ensure consistent, effective communication across all levels of the organization
  • Ensure all serviced accounts are properly set up, sequenced, and maintained within company systems
  • Conduct field audits and spot checks to ensure compliance with company standards and identify coaching opportunities
  • Step in to support critical operations, including covering open routes when necessary
