About The Position

At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference. What's the Short Version? The Merchandising Intern is responsible for supporting the Merchandising team during an 8 week program. The intern will assist the merchandising team with a wide range of product categories and tasks, providing administrative support while learning and participating in the full product creation process including Design, Merchandising, Development, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Color, and Demand Planning. During the 8-week period, the Merchandising Intern will create and present an original merchandising project for one or two chosen categories in apparel, headwear, or bags.

Requirements

  • Currently working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion, Merchandising, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
  • Administrative skills which must include excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Responsive to staff needs, including professionalism, respect and consideration of others

Responsibilities

  • Research competitor and market offerings and compile documentation by building reference spreadsheets and compelling visual decks
  • Support various merchandising product projects such as or market mood / fabric boards, identifying product assortment gaps/opportunities, and design briefs
  • Assist merchant team with seasonal line plan building by executing research for overall fashion trends, historical business analysis, styling suggestions, pricing, etc,
  • Assist in the preparation of samples for merchant presentations, customer visits, management meetings, etc
  • Conduct a variety of general administrative tasks for the department or departments as assigned.
  • Job shadow various members of the department and assist them as needed.
  • Participate in intern cohort activities including: professional development workshops, warehouse tours, and meetings with leadership.
  • May prepare correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
  • May perform or support special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Benefits

  • Pay: You`ll earn $21.39 on an hourly basis.
  • Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a weekly basis based on hours worked.
