About The Position

ABOUT THE JOB The Merchandiser is responsible for analyzing product performance, driving insights into assortment planning, and supporting the execution of go-to-market strategies. This role is highly data-driven and collaborative, serving as a key partner to planning, marketing, design, and operations to ensure financial and strategic goals are met. This is an individual contributor role focused on merchandising strategy and analytics. This is not a visual merchandising role (no store sets, displays, or in-store execution). The Merchandiser will influence assortment and buy recommendations through data-driven insights, but final buy ownership and approval sit with Planning and Merchandising leadership. This position reports directly to the Director, Merchandising

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in merchandising, buying, or planning (e-commerce retail, fashion, or consumer goods), preferably at a vertical brand organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Experience with merchandising tools such as Centric/PLM, Shopify, Netsuite, Triplewhale, Daasity/Looker preferred.
  • Strong storytelling ability to connect data to business outcomes.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with comfort managing recurring reporting cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Identify patterns and trends in product performance and translate insights into clear recommendations for assortment, pricing, and lifecycle management.
  • Communicate push/pull product recommendations to marketing, digital, and retention teams to align inventory availability, consumer demand, and seasonality with campaigns and creative assets, maximizing ROI and sell-through.
  • Own the process for delivering comprehensive product briefs for new product initiatives in collaboration with the product development and design team; including identifying marketing and revenue opportunities, defining product features and functionality needs, performing cost vs. retail price and margin analysis, and ensuring alignment with the brand’s holistic product positioning and assortment strategy prior to design handoff.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to build product positioning strategy and inform product briefs and buying decisions, including analysis of competitive pricing, feature sets, materials, and value positioning across relevant brands and categories.
  • Support seasonal buy strategy by translating performance insights into buy recommendations and clearly communicating buy rationale to planning and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner cross-functionally to support launch readiness, ensuring product, inventory, and messaging are aligned ahead of key launches, drops, and campaigns.
  • Manage product setup, attributes, and operational lifecycle tracking across systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Create clear merchandising tools, decks, and storytelling materials for leadership and cross-functional audiences.
  • Other related duties as required.
