About The Position

The Merchandiser Assistant I (MA I) has primary responsibility to perform administrative accounting functions and insure adherence to proper control procedures of the business unit.  The MA I must enter all pertinent information in their business unit’s expert system on a daily basis.  The Merchandiser Assistant I contributes to positive customer and vendor relations.  The MA I is required to report all perceived control policy or procedure concerns to the Controller. Partner with Trade Execution Team and Sales Managers to provide timely and accurate records for product and freight positions.  Deliver excellent service to our customers/vendors, including timely processing of payments and resolution of any problems. Responsible for the accurate reporting and reconciliation of inventory.  Work with operations, Accounting/Control, and contract labor to gather necessary load transaction information. Actively monitor Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Freight Analysis and other miscellaneous reports on a daily/weekly basis and resolve any issues.  Maintain an organized digital filing system which includes invoices, contracts, report and payment receipts Communicate business position and miscellaneous adjustments to the merchandiser and collaborate at month-end to submit the final profit and loss statement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to handle confidential materials
  • Basic understanding of general accounting principles
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to accurately and completely conduct repetitive tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of commodities business
  • Two years of office experience
