About The Position

The merchandise planner is responsible for the financial management of their assigned area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, creation of financial & merchandise plans, actualization of results, and a keen ability to identify, communicate, and implement strategic business opportunities. The planner will be responsible for forecasting sales, margin, and inventory levels on a regular basis as well as identifying risks to the business and develop action plans in cooperation with their merchandising partner to mitigate risks properly.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of retail planning experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree
• Proven track record of financially astute business management
• Expertise in retail math
• Ability to identify and clearly communicate business opportunities and risks
• Strong analytical skills
• Must be able to work in a team environment & work independently
• Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Be assertive & eager to grow in an extremely fast-paced organization
• Strong organization and workload prioritization skills

• Must be comfortable communication to all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

• Drives the development of product assortments, product allocation, inventory management and profitability in conjunction with the merchant
• Identifies opportunities and executes strategies to increase sales, margin, & turn to meet or exceed plan
• Determines space, sku, and assortment strategies that optimize store productivity
• Develops sound department and class-level financial plans; re-forecasts in season based on current trend
• Analyzes product performance in season, monitors demand, and adjusts forecasts to establish inventory levels that drive sales and maximize profitability
• Collaborates with operations team on in-season adjustments to min/max levels
• Provides forecasts to and collaborates with vendors to insure appropriate level of product availability
• Produces divisional reports
