Summary of Position: In collaboration with the VP of Retail and the retail team, meet the material needs of the department to enhance revenue streams across all sites within the Outdoor and Convenience category. This includes leading and managing supplier relationships, maximizing the revenue and gross profit for your category in all retail outlets, and proactively researching new industry and site-related products and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision

  • Must possess strong leadership and managerial skills that include the ability to coach, develop, and communicate

  • Intermediate Microsoft office skills, with an emphasis on Excel
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally (with assistance) and handle physical exertion involving bending, twisting, squatting, and standing for long periods of time
  • Up to 10% Travel may be required
  • Minimum five (5) years’ retail buying, and merchandising experience required
  • Minimum five (5) years’ leadership/management experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management or related field

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop merchandising and purchasing strategies that optimize sales performance while maintaining margin goals across the Company within the Outdoor and Convenience category
  • Anticipate product needs by analyzing sales data, evaluating site feedback/market trends, and plan accordingly
  • Manage product life cycles, markdowns, promotions, and closeout strategy
  • Manage merchandise buying effectively utilizing reporting tools, PO entry and Auto PO processes
  • Work closely with V.P. of Merchandising, Directors and Buyers to drive performance and maximize profitability by providing analysis and visibility tools
  • Lead and train the Convenience and Outdoor buying team to ensure continual growth and execution
  • Perform ongoing, and timely, data analysis to ensure maximum performance at all levels in all locations
  • Maintain site contractual compliance in collaboration with corporate, operations, and location managers
  • Assist with new and existing store execution and set-up to include merchandising displays, assortment strategies, etc.
  • Assist with product development to uphold the unique aspects of the Company’s merchandise and experiences
  • Participate in annual on-site physical inventories when requested
  • Ensure compliance with department standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances
  • Understand company’s ISO management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas, with a focus on upholding the highest level of quality. This includes auditing of supplier procedures and documentation related to quality.
