About The Position

As a Merchandise Crew Member / Museum Gift Shop Cashier, you are a storyteller that connects the merchandise offered in the gift shop to Titanic passenger stories. You greet customers and recommend, select, and help locate products. You also stock merchandise, gather items for displays, and collaborate with the Sales team to analyze business needs and determine which products to feature. You will utilize strategizing to meet assigned sales targets, you display merchandise within the museum to catch the eye of guests. You calculate sales prices as well as receive and process payment. Once you make sales, you bag or package those purchases and wrap gifts when asked. At the end of your shift, you ensure that your cash drawer is balanced. You also oversee the store and safeguard company assets. As challenging situations arise, you provide outstanding customer service. You enjoy learning and growing in this exciting career.

Requirements

Six months to one year of related experience.
Basic Computer Skills
Stock Room experience desired
Excellent Customer Service Skills

Must have reliable transportion
Available to work a varied schedule
Ability to stand and walk for extended lengths of time
Ability to lift or carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
Ability to maneuver in small, confined spaces.
Ability to reach above shoulders.
May be required to use a stepping stool to reach overhead.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and determine what each customer wants or needs.
Describe merchandise and explain use, operation, and care of merchandise to customers.
Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
Connect merchandise with knowledge of Titanic passengers in sales strategy.
Calculate sales prices, total purchases and receive and process cash or credit payment.
Strategizing to meet assigned sales targets in the given period of time.
Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
Maintain records related to sales.
Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise.
Prepare merchandise for purchase.
Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns.
Clean shelves, counters, and tables.
Help customers try on or fit merchandise.
Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
Bag or package purchases, and wrap gifts.
