About The Position

The Merchandise Associate - Part Time is responsible for consistently delivering an engaging and outstanding customer service experience by combining sales, product knowledge and skills training to meet and exceed customer expectations. As a Merchandise Associate at the MLB Store, you will play a key role in generating revenue through superior product knowledge, POS operations, loss prevention and adherence to all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • Prior proven experience in a sports/fashion focused retail environment.
  • Demonstrate an inspirational attitude that contributes to a positive team environment.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, warm, and friendly personality.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
  • Willingness and drive to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills; ability to accurately count change and balance bank.
  • Must be able to work and adapt quickly in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team during set up and to get tasks done quickly.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time; must be able to handle, feel and reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and operate a Brannock device.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10-30 pounds, occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours including late nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and management.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed customer expectations and boost sales by providing an energetic and positive environment for teammates and customers.
  • Create an emotional connection with every customer by being a passionate and enthusiastic Legends / MLB Brand ambassador.
  • Complete sales transactions efficiently and accurately while adhering to cash protection procedures.
  • Use selling expertise to maximize opportunities at the POS to create add-on sales and build customer loyalty.
  • Proactively seek and incorporate basic core and seasonal product knowledge into a unique service approach within assigned store zones.
  • Collaborate productively and respectfully with team members to meet or exceed store goals.
  • Maintain an appealing, easy-to-shop environment for customers by consistently executing visual merchandising and housekeeping standards.
  • Handle returns and exchanges, using these transactions as an opportunity to reinforce and enhance the customer experience.
  • Assist with deliveries and replenishing the sales floor to ensure product availability.
  • Maximize sales opportunities by prioritizing merchandise flow to the sales floor.
  • Report low stock levels, inventory discrepancies and customer product requests to management as needed.
  • Minimize loss by actively maintaining sales floor awareness while serving customers.
  • Comply with store policies and procedures to maintain a safe shopping and working environment.
