About The Position
Mercer is seeking a Health Consulting Actuarial Intern to join our team. In this role, you will be part of a dynamic group of over 2,500 US Health Consultants who are dedicated to delivering disciplined and consistent approaches to various aspects of health consulting, including benchmarking, data analytics, financial management, marketing, compliance, and communication. As an intern, your typical day will involve performing basic cost projections using client cost and enrollment data, pricing medical and prescription drug plan designs using proprietary Mercer tools, and assisting in the development of customized pricing and valuation models. You will also have the opportunity to develop basic underwriting and actuarial skills while gaining awareness of health care plan design, cost factors, and various industry products, services, and tools, including those offered by Mercer Health. We value strong analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Advanced programming skills in languages such as R, Python, SAS, and SQL are a plus. You will also need to demonstrate knowledge of data analysis, project management, and presentation design, along with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
