About The Position

Welcome to Weavers Way Co-op! Weavers Way is a not-for-profit organization that’s doing things differently to support our local community. As a member-owned co-op, we don’t exist just to make money. The Mercantile, located across the street from our Mt. Airy store, sells a mix of vintage furniture, handmade pottery, jewelry, artwork, candles, and more! Join us as our Mercantile Manager! We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, and experienced individual to work as a manager at our Mercantile (Mt. Airy) location. This position is low-time with an anticipated 12-18 hours per week. Weekend availability is required. If you have retail management experience, a keen eye for vintage goods, and a passion for finding hidden gems, then we want to hear from you!

Requirements

  • A commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op.
  • Weekend availability is required, with flexibility for the occasional weekday.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation to pick-up and drop off products; access to a vehicle strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with cash registers and POS systems.
  • Strong knowledge of vintage and antique products and trends.
  • Prior experience in staff supervision is preferred.
  • Proven experience in providing a high-level of customer service.
  • The ability to lift, reach for, and carry items up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • The ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.

Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing Mercantile in accordance with established SOPs.
  • POS/cash register operations, including end-of-day sales reconciliations and other associated cash management duties.
  • With guidance from the Director of Operations, maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, labor, and other relevant data.
  • Management of Mercantile staff, including hiring, performance management, and scheduling.
  • Ensure that Weavers Way Co-op customer service standards are upheld to the highest level.
  • Monitor inventory levels and replenish low-stock items.
  • Ensure that all cleanliness and safety standards are upheld in compliance with internal policies, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Regularly merchandise product placement and displays, highlighting key items as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Operations, procure items for sale from a variety of sources (online auctions, in-person auctions, social media marketplaces, local vendors).
  • Research new items and maintain knowledge of secondary-market trends to optimize sales, pricing appropriately.
  • Maintain the Mercantile social media account(s), including Instagram, to advertise new products and events.
  • Observe all Weavers Way Co-op policies and procedures, as established in the Employee Handbook.
  • Attend and actively contribute to management and other meetings, as scheduled.
  • Maintain communication standards for information sharing using a variety of mediums (in-person, email, phone).
  • Other related duties as assigned.
