About The Position

Reporting to the Group Superintendent, the MEP Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. You will work closely with construction project managers, design teams, and trade partners, ensuring that MEP systems are fully coordinated, meet industry standards, and align with project schedules and budgets. This position requires expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and proficiency with Autodesk software, such as Revit and Navisworks. You will be responsible for managing MEP scopes, bid processes, 3D coordination, installation oversight, and start-up. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to deliver high-quality projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 10 + years in construction MEP Superintendent role or related field
  • Proven track record of managing MEP systems for large-scale construction projects
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD, (preferred not required)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to travel within the Ohio area and occasionally to neighboring states, with most nights spent at home

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and other collaboration tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee MEP field activities throughout the course of the project, coordinating with area superintendents responsible for activities such as core & shell, civil, and finishes
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to resolve clashes and ensure optimal system integration.
  • Work with schedulers to develop and maintain project schedules for MEP systems.
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct clash detection practices with MEP coordinators/engineers to find resolution to optimize MEP layouts.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and specifications in all MEP designs and installations.
  • Facilitate regular coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams on MEP and BIM-related issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate models, drawings, and project documentation.
  • Create visual presentations and reports for stakeholders as needed.
  • Create a detailed scope sheet for MEP systems that outlines project scope, deliverables, and trade responsibilities.
  • Compile Bid Matrices and confirm complete coordination between trades
  • Prepare GMP pricing and design build budgets as needed
  • Oversee and coordinate the start-up and commissioning process in collaboration with the third-party or internal commissioning agent
