About The Position

Looking for a MEP Construction Manager to manage and drive success on new and ongoing, small, medium-to-large-sized construction projects. The position covers all aspects of a construction project. Areas of expertise require autonomy and independent discretion in the following areas: • RFP development and overall project budgeting • Pre-bid oversight and coordination • Managing all design phases and documents • Customer engagement for sales and fulfillment of requirements • Coordination and supervision of design-build contractors • Coordination with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts • Oversight of physical construction activities • Participation in commissioning • Hand-off of physical data center and project documents to operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field; or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing construction projects of increasing complexity, with a focus on data center or mission-critical facilities. 7+ years preferred.
  • Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 20% but may increase over time as the business evolves
  • For roles that require on-site presence or travel between work locations as an essential function of the position, candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license appropriate for the role and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment, including preparing written reports and documentation, conveying information clearly to team members, clients, and stakeholders, and responding appropriately to verbal and written communications related to job duties.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget from inception through completion.
  • Drive all aspects of construction, including pre-construction, design development, permitting and entitlements, competitive bid processes, team selection, construction oversight, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Cultivate ability to create business cases and bring projects from concept through internal project approval.
  • Collaborate with design teams, operators, and clients to ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.
  • Work closely with Operations to coordinate design criteria with budgetary considerations and ongoing maintenance of existing facilities.
  • Maintain awareness of the importance of mission-critical facility operation and ensure that all construction activities support this focus.
  • Submit monthly project financial reports, including forecasting and cash-flow analysis.
  • Review monthly contractor billing and perform job walks to substantiate progress and ensure accuracy.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain vendor contracts, assisting with negotiation and ongoing relationships.
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and work products are delivered according to project requirements.
  • Manage the input and delivery of work products from internal team members to ensure that new data center spaces comply with project requirements, customer requirements, engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications.
  • Develop, document, and drive lessons learned, process improvements, and cost and schedule savings initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement best practices to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by Management.
