The Position: The Plumbing Engineer position is responsible for performing a variety of plumbing engineering tasks, including the research, development, planning, and design of plumbing and piping systems commonly used in commercial, industrial, and critical facility MEP consulting projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • 4+ years of experience in plumbing system engineering for buildings, critical facilities, or MEP consulting.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD CAD software required.
  • Strong working knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including hydraulics, pipe sizing, and system optimization.
  • Ability to produce precise engineering documentation, layouts, and calculations.
  • Knowledge of design principles and practical application of engineering science for plumbing systems.
  • Ability to analyze project requirements and develop efficient, code-compliant solutions.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for working with multi-discipline teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop plumbing, piping, and related systems, including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, and fire protection systems.
  • Research and analyze project specifications, customer requirements, and manuals to determine feasibility and optimize system design.
  • Produce engineering documentation such as schematics, riser diagrams, system layouts, and equipment schedules.
  • Exercise independent judgment in applying plumbing and piping codes and standards, including UPC, IPC, NFPA, ASPE, and International Building Codes.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical) to ensure integrated MEP systems and resolve design conflicts.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations, system sizing, and capacity analysis to ensure performance and code compliance.
  • Provide or assist with technical direction and final review of plumbing and piping designs developed by drafters and designers.
  • Observe construction activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
