KDG Construction Consulting is seeking a MEP Inspector to join our team. The MEP Inspector is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and documenting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety requirements. This role works closely with contractors, project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to support successful delivery of all MEP systems throughout construction.

  • Perform daily inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
  • Verify that all MEP work complies with approved plans, technical specifications, codes, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor installation of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, lighting, low-voltage systems, water supply, sewer, gas lines, and other utilities.
  • Document inspection findings through detailed daily reports, photos, and tracking logs.
  • Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and potential issues; coordinate with contractors to ensure timely resolution.
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on MEP progress, risks, and quality concerns.
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, test results, and commissioning documentation.
  • Witness testing, balancing, start-up, and commissioning of MEP systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and immediately report unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate with other discipline inspectors to ensure continuity across construction activities.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience inspecting or installing MEP systems on construction projects; public works or aviation experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP codes, standards, and construction practices (NEC, UPC, UMC, NFPA, Title 24, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Experience with construction inspection reporting tools (e.g., Procore, e-Builder, Primavera, BIM tools).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Certifications such as ICC, NICET, OSHPD, or similar are a plus.
