This role is for a Sr. MEP Engineer/Business Development Leader to join GFT's Mechanical Practice in Philadelphia, PA, following a hybrid work model. This includes energy-efficient power systems, advanced HVAC, and plumbing designs, contributing to a resilient and sustainable built environment. GFT is seeking a highly experienced, technically proficient, and sales-focused Senior MEP to lead client relationship management, proposal development, and strategic pursuits in the Philadelphia and surrounding markets. The ideal candidate will combine deep mechanical engineering knowledge with strategic client engagement to secure projects and deliver innovative solutions that meet performance, budget, and schedule goals. You will work closely with Client Service Leaders, Business Development, local Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Project Managers, and Directors to identify project pursuits and develop strategies for new and expanded client growth, with a focus on expanding the mechanical and electrical project portfolio. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical (ABET-accredited).
  • PE license in good standing.
  • 8+ years in mechanical engineering design and analysis.
  • 3+ years in technical sales or business development within an engineering context.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, piping systems, and applicable codes (mechanical, plumbing).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design-build firms or integrated project delivery.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainable design practices.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel for project execution and client support.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resources for Mechanical staff within the Mid-Atlantic area.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets in the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas.
  • Work with internal business groups for cross-sale opportunities.
  • Develop technical proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Act as a technical advisor during pre-sales and post-sales phases, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Represent the company in client meetings, interviews, and industry events to promote services.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and stakeholders.
