About The Position

We seek a MEP Coordinator to provide construction management support services to our valued client's data center practice. 8 years’ construction experience is required. The MEP Coordinator's main responsibility is to be a critical on-site resource, representing the Owner's interests in the planning, execution, and close-out of the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for a large-scale datacenter construction project.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years’ construction experience is required, with a strong preference for a background heavily focused on MEP systems and/or commissioning.
  • Proven experience with mission-critical facilities (e.g., datacenters, financial trading floors, large-scale technology infrastructure), healthcare, or similarly complex and highly regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of the full lifecycle of major MEP systems, including high-voltage power distribution, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), cooling infrastructure (chillers, pumps, air handling units), and life safety systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the commissioning process (Cx), including industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE Guideline 0), functional testing, Integrated System Testing (IST), and a strong track record of successful project close-out.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning scripts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction, project management, or a related field. This requirement may be waived with five or more years of direct, vertical construction industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination & Oversight
  • On-Site Owner Support: Provide dedicated, on-site representation for the Owner, acting as a technical resource and communication hub for all MEP and commissioning activities.
  • Interface Management: Serve as the primary liaison, fostering collaborative relationships with the General Contractor’s (GC) MEP team, Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed (OFCI) vendors, and the Commissioning Agent.
  • Technical Review & Quality Assurance: Participate in and provide input on submittals, RFIs, and change proposals related to MEP systems. Conduct regular field walks to monitor installation quality and progress against approved plans, specifications, and the project schedule.
  • Issue Resolution: Collaboratively work through "big rocks"—major technical, logistical, or schedule challenges associated with MEP construction and the subsequent commissioning process—driving them to a timely and compliant resolution.
  • Program Stewardship: Steward the Owner's commissioning program at the project level, ensuring the program's objectives, protocols, and technical standards are rigorously applied throughout all phases.
  • Commissioning Phase Management: Actively track, monitor, and support the entire commissioning sequence, from Level 2 (L2) through Level 5 (L5) testing, including:
  • L2: Contractor Startup Checklists and System Verifications
  • L3: Component and Equipment Functional Performance Testing (FPT)
  • L4: Integrated System Testing (IST)
  • L5: Reliability Testing, as required
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all pre-functional checklists, functional test procedures, and test reports are meticulously completed, reviewed, and stored in the Owner’s system.
  • Proactive Communication: Maintain a high level of transparency and deliver timely, accurate updates on MEP construction status, commissioning progress, potential roadblocks, and risks to the Owner's internal stakeholders and management team.
  • Lessons Learned: Transparently inform the Owner's management team of critical lessons learned during the MEP installation and commissioning phases to contribute to continuous improvement for future projects and standard specifications.
  • Meeting Participation: Lead or actively participate in key project meetings, including OAC (Owner/Architect/Contractor), MEP coordination, commissioning, and OFCI vendor meetings.
