About The Position

Colliers Project Leaders is currently looking for a Building Envelope Commissioning Intern to join our team in our New England region during Summer 2026. We deliver real energy savings in buildings, spaces, and systems that perform optimally and maximize comfort and safety. Our team includes engineers, controls experts, and sustainability professionals. We are national leaders and industry authorities whose proactive, hands-on approach delivers real results. Our unique dual perspective sets us apart—technical expertise to evaluate, understand, and critique systems design and the operational knowledge to maximize systems and equipment performance. This role involves both fieldwork and office-based tasks.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the office and project sites across the state.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous intern or co-op experience in commissioning, energy audits, or other engineering functions preferred.
  • Possess solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with in-field review of the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Work alongside technical staff assisting with field observation work, preparing detailed field visit reports, and documenting project issues through resolution.
  • Set up and help maintain project database files and records.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information.
  • Tour various construction job sites and gain exposure to the industry.
  • Read and review mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Assist with ensuring that all systems and equipment are functional tested.
  • Confer with project managers during planning, design, and construction phases.
  • Prepare reports and document project activities and data.
  • Prepare analyses from collected data.
  • Occasional travel to job sites or offices in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts required.
