About The Position

As a Survivor Mentor in Hampden County , you will make a direct impact in the lives of individuals who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. Through consistent in-person engagement in homes and community settings, you will build meaningful relationships that foster trust, safety, and empowerment. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, Survivor Mentors play a critical role in helping participants increase safety, reduce vulnerability to exploitation, and move toward healthier, more stable futures. RFK Community Alliance is seeking a Survivor Mentor in Hampden County to provide one-to-one support to participants ages 11-24 who have been commercially sexually exploited or trafficked. This opportunity is specifically limited to an applicant with lived experience as a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation or human trafficking as an adolescent or young adult. A Survivor Mentor at RFK Community Alliance is someone who identifies as a Survivor of the commercial sex industry and will provide long-term consistent support to young victims of commercial sexual exploitation. This position is full-time and grant-funded through the Department of Public Health. Continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding. While future funding is not guaranteed, RFK Community Alliance is committed to exploring continuation opportunities and supporting staff through any transitions should funding end. All hires receive supervision and ongoing support from a fellow Survivor Leaders, Program Coordinator and Vice President of Community Services. ABOUT THE JOB: The commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) is a form of child abuse that constitutes any sexual activity with a minor for which something of value is given or exchanged. RFK provides voluntary mentoring services to participants that are survivors of CSEC or there are suspicions of CSEC. RFK provides specific training related to boundaries and secondary trauma to support service delivery.

Requirements

Personal history as a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation as an adolescent or young adult. This may include exploitation through online outlets such as (social media platforms, Only Fans, webcamming, etc.) forced migration, stripping, pornography, prostitution, or commercial exchange of explicit pictures).
A minimum of five years in recovery from sexual exploitation
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
A current driver’s license and access to a car.
Demonstrates and promotes cultural competence, awareness, and respect for diversity/inclusivity.
Promote agency core values.

Nice To Haves

Preferred experience and knowledge working with LGBTQI+ youth
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
LGBTQI+ and Male Survivors encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to participants who have been commercially sexually exploited. This support will include weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly meetings (depending on where a participant is in recovery) with each meeting lasting 1-3 hours. Contacts may occur wherever the participant lives (including in group care, a juvenile justice facility, foster home, family setting, and/or in the community).
Provide written documentation for each contact with your assigned participant using designated reporting forms and data collection forms.
Work collaboratively with other mentoring team members in developing an appropriate support service, education, and treatment plan for each assigned Mentees.
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including law enforcement, to enhance each youth’s safety and ability to aid in a prosecution, when appropriate.
Attend supervision meetings with Legacy Program Coordinator as well as weekly staff meetings.
When appropriate, co-facilitate exploitation prevention groups with participants in schools, group homes, etc.
Attend mandatory training as required for position and/or to promote professional development.
Track hours to provide to supervisor as requested.

$3,500 Sign-On Incentive! This position is eligible for the RFK Community Alliance Sign-On Incentive in the amount of $3,500 in your first year of employment. You will receive $750 after 3 months; $750 after 6 months; $2,000 after 12 months.
