The Melba S. Lehner (MSL) Children's School at Weber State University is a model demonstration laboratory center. A mentor teacher is assigned to lead an early childhood classroom that trains preservice teachers. The mentor teacher role with University students includes observation, modeling, hands-on application, feedback and scaffolding. Mentor teachers work to design and implement inquiry driven developmentally appropriate curricula for young children in their classrooms. This position is a dual role of maintaining a model classroom that meets NAEYC criteria, while also acting as a coach to help WSU students develop research based teaching practices. Additionally, mentor teachers represent WSU in the community by serving as a model and resource of evidence based practice in early care. The mentor teacher will work under the direction of the Melba S. Lehner Children's School Director. This position is located on the Weber State University Ogden campus facility working with children 1- to 6-year-olds.
