Mental Health Worker (part-time / per diem)
About The Position
Individuals who have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social Work are encouraged to consider an outstanding career opportunity as a Mental Health Worker with Liberty Healthcare Corporation. Liberty Healthcare operates a 10-bed inpatient psychiatric stabilization unit within the Maguire Correctional Facility - a county jail located in Redwood City, CA. This unit exclusively serves adult inmates who are struggling with acute mental illness. As a Mental Health Workers with Liberty Healthcare, you will fulfill a vital role and be responsible for: Mental Health Workers receive training and valuable resume-building mental health experience. As a Mental Health Worker with Liberty Healthcare, you'll have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals who are struggling with mental illness. Liberty is currently hiring for part-time and per-diem positions. A part-time schedule working 2 nights per week and a schedule working as needed / as available are both available. You can expect to be paid $30.00 per hour. Shift options include: AM shift from 6:45am to 3pm PM shift from 2:45pm to 11pm Overnight (NOC) shift from 10:45 pm to 7:15 am
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field
- Experience serving people who have mental illness
- Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital, mental health setting or human services program
Responsibilities
- Establishing and maintaining positive therapeutic relationships with psychiatric patients
- Leading therapeutic recreation activities with individuals and groups
- Monitoring patient activity and behavior
- Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu
- Safely addressing, deescalating and managing aggressive patient behaviors through appropriate interventions and techniques
- Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, LCSWs, Registered Nurses and ancillary mental health workers
- Documenting services and patient's progress in medical records
