About The Position
Trinity Health Of New England is looking for a Mental Health worker to join our team of mission-driven healthcare professionals located on our Behavioral Health Unit located at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. The Mental Health Worker / Behavioral Health Tech is key role to keep patients engaged in recovery-oriented activities, help to communicate patient’s needs to the clinical team, to monitor patient safety and to work with the nursing professionals to create a healing environment for patients.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent with related experience required.
- Certification: AHA CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers
- Possesses a broad practical understanding of life experiences and the ability to relate to emotionally ill individuals.
- Prior experience in psychiatric/behavioral Health setting a plus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred
- Prior experience in psychiatric/behavioral Health setting a plus.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient observations and other patient care activities.
- Observes patient behavior.
- Performs, reports, and documents vital signs, ADLs.
- Responds rapidly to emergency call lights and performs safety checks.
- Provides group and individual interventions to assist the psychiatric patient towards recovery and rehabilitation.
