About The Position

Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Reasons) is seeking candidate professionals, preferably with previous experience working with eating disorders, trauma, substance use and LGBTQIA+ communities, to provide compassionate care to our diverse patients for our residential treatment facilities located in beautiful, intimate six-bed houses in the Pasadena and the Arcadia neighborhoods of the Los Angeles area. Job Description: Working under the direction of a RN, LVN or LPT, the Mental Health Worker functions as an active part of the treatment team and provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to our eating disorder patients. Daily responsibilities include (not limited to): accurately administer and record vital signs; observe, assess and document a resident’s appearance, behavior or ability to work toward treatment plan goals; effectively and professionally communicate with clinical team, staff, patients and customers. Requirements

  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric resident care techniques with understanding of mental illness preferred.
  • Additional Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize sound judgment during while observing patients and documents any changes in a patients appearance, behavior or ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
  • Ensure intervention is based on the patient’s plan of care.
  • Employ appropriate crisis intervention techniques as needed.
  • Transport patients to medical appointments, outings or to the facility.
  • Provide positive transportation experience and treats all patients with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Open vehicle doors for each patient and assist the patient into and out of the vehicle.
  • Accurately administer and record vital signs
  • Observe, assess and document a resident’s appearance, behavior or ability to work toward treatment plan goals
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with clinical team, staff, patients and customers
