Under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN, the Mental Health Worker assists the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living. This role supports unit functions, maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers, and functions as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, communicating pertinent patient information to the supervising RN. The position also performs some clerical duties as assigned and provides basic nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, all within the guidelines of Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy, and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.

Requirements

  • Current BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

  • CNA or EMT license preferred
  • Mental Health experience in the last 6 months preferred
  • One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred
  • Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care including assistance with activities of daily living under the direction and supervision of the RN, LVN or Charge RN.
  • Support the unit functions and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and co-workers.
  • Function as an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team and communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
  • Perform some clerical duties as assigned.
  • Provide basic nursing care for the adult and geriatric patients.
  • Perform responsibilities within the guidelines of the Nursing Structure Standards, Hospital/Nursing Policy and state regulatory and accrediting requirements.
