About The Position

The Mental Health Worker II position at Taunton State Hospital involves providing direct care and treatment for patients with major mental illnesses. Requirements

• At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care service to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped.
• An Associate's degree or higher in psychology, human services, mental health, or related fields may substitute for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Treats all patients with dignity and respect, advocating for their needs and preferences.
• Acts as a role model and supervises the work performance of subordinates during daily ward assignments.
• Assesses assigned clients and documents nursing progress notes reflecting behavioral changes as indicated in treatment plans.
• Works with patients through therapeutic interventions, providing a safe environment for stabilization and rehabilitation.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADL) to ensure their health, comfort, and safety needs are met.
• Establishes rapport with patients and staff to improve patient care.
• Communicates patients' progress to supervisors and participates in treatment plan meetings.
• Supervises and assists patients in performing general housekeeping duties to maintain a therapeutic environment.
• May provide direction and serve as a role model for Mental Health Workers I.
