About The Position

The Mental Health Worker is responsible for providing support and assistance to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role involves working both individually and in groups to help patients address various mental health issues, assist with daily living activities, and promote overall well-being. The Mental Health Worker collaborates with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care and maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral/Social sciences.
  • At least one year of previous experience in the treatment of mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with patients and staff.
  • Help identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in conflict resolution.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
  • Assume responsibility for job duties and report hazards to management.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and complete required competencies.
  • Provide quality patient care considering age-specific and cultural needs.
  • Assist in the resolution of safety and maintenance issues in the environment.
  • Encourage patients to express their feelings and develop insight into their lives.
  • Guide patients in developing coping skills and strategies.
  • Complete patient-related documentation in a timely manner.
  • Support patients in overcoming dependencies and adjusting to life changes.
  • Collect information about patients through interviews and observations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment plans.
  • Evaluate patients' conditions and communicate findings to the nursing team.
