About The Position

The Mental Health Unit Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the provision of quality mental health services to patients in the Residential Treatment Unit and addressing their psychological needs. This position involves overseeing and guiding mental health professionals who provide direct care to incarcerated individuals in the Residential Treatment Unit. The Mental Health Unit Coordinator will be involved in working with all disciplines on the Behavioral Health Unit to attain effectiveness in serving the patient population.

Requirements

  • Must be fluent in English language, including reading, writing, and must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Must be a supportive team member, who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept.
  • Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed to practice behavioral health services in the state where services are being delivered (LICSW or LMHC required).
  • Previous experience as a Mental Health Clinician.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as point of contact for administrative staff for discussion of Residential Treatment Unit programs and problem resolution as needed.
  • Coordinates development and revision of policies and procedures for the identification, assessment and provision of required clinical services for inmates housed in the Residential Treatment Unit.
  • Supervises the planning, development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to VitalCore.
  • Provides clinical and/or administrative supervision to staff of Behavioral Health Services within the Residential Treatment Unit.
  • Monitors efforts of Mental Health Services in the Residential Treatment Unit to ensure clinical services are being provided in a timely, professional manner.
  • Ensures treatment programs contracted are integrated and appropriately staffed.
  • Provides administrative support to psychiatric staff. Assists coordinators in recruitment and selection of clinical staff.
  • Coordinates with the facility's behavioral health Quality Improvement Program.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
