About The Position

The Legacy Hall Therapist(s) is/are responsible for providing trauma informed, individual therapeutic services to support adolescents and young adults (16-21) in the foster care system who reside at Crittenton. Now in our 122nd year of service to the Charlotte community, Crittenton is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower women and children through education, health, residential care, and supportive services. We envision ending the generational cycle of poverty and trauma, creating better tomorrows. We’re nationally accredited and guided by a trauma-informed model of care to make our clients feel safe, supported, and empowered. This role requires experience working with survivors of sexual and physical violence, childhood neglect, intimate partner violence (IPV), and children who have witnessed IPV. The therapist should have a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and evidence-based therapy modalities to support foster care youth transitioning to independent living. Preference will be given to therapists with lived experience in the foster care system. This is a contract/grant-funded position.

Requirements

At least 3 years of directly related experience
Proven experience working with trauma survivors, particularly foster care youth or young adults.
Training or certification in evidence-based trauma modalities, including DBT, TF-CBT, and MST.
Strong understanding of cultural humility and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Experience addressing behavioral challenges, trauma, and independent living skills development.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Must have clean driving record and valid driver license

Must pass background check and drug screening (answering “yes” to having a conviction(s) does not automatically disqualify you from employment. The nature of the offense, date of occurrence, and the job for which you are applying are also considered)
Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
Current licensure (LCSW, LCAS, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) in the state of North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

Lived experience with the foster care system.
Additional training in substance use treatment or co-occurring disorders.
Experience with data collection and outcome reporting in therapeutic settings.

Responsibilities

Develop diagnostic impressions and culturally responsive treatment plans tailored to each client.
Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed assessments that incorporate the unique challenges of foster care and abuse.
Provide individual therapy using evidence-based modalities, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Multisystemic Therapy (MST).
Offer crisis counseling and emotional support to residents as needed.
Maintain a manageable caseload of up to 12 clients, ensuring personalized and effective care.
Collaborate with case managers, service providers, and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
Refer clients to appropriate case management services to enhance functioning and independence.
Attend internal and external meetings with staff to coordinate care.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including initial assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans, adhering to agency standards.
Collect and report data in accordance with program timelines and standards.
Follow agency protocols for clinical risk management to minimize risks for clients and the organization.
Ensure all therapeutic practices and documentation comply with the NASW Code of Ethics and HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
Obtain required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain licensing or certification.
Stay updated on trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.
Adhere to professional ethical standards (e.g., NASW, NBCC).
Incorporate trauma-informed care principles into all activities.
