About The Position

Soar Therapy and Integrated Wellness is hiring a Resident in Counseling to join our growing outpatient clinic in Northern Virginia. We are a trauma-focused, somatic-oriented practice serving adolescents (13+) and adults who are ready to engage in meaningful therapeutic work. Our clinical culture centers on emotional regulation, depth therapy, and long-term change. We are intentional about both the clients we serve and the clinicians we bring into our team. This is a full-time W2 position averaging 26 completed sessions per week, with clinicians working three in-office days to support both clinic needs and personal structure. Hybrid Schedule: 3 days in person, 10-6 or 11-7 Clinical Support & Development This role includes a strong level of clinical and professional support: Weekly supervision for Residents Ongoing clinical consultation for Fully Licensed Clinicians Monthly Group Consultation Twice a month growth and development trainings Eligibility for advanced training opportunities, including EMDR and IFS We provide a structured clinical environment that supports the development of confident, skilled clinicians. Who We’re Looking For We are seeking clinicians who are: Grounded, disciplined, and clinically curious Committed to long-term growth as a therapist Comfortable working within a structured outpatient setting Interested in somatic therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, DBT, EMDR, IFS, or related modalities Candidates should have 1.5-2 years of outpatient experience or a strong readiness to work in a full caseload environment. Requirements

  • Licensed (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) or Resident in Counseling in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1.5–2+ years of clinical experience required
  • Strong clinical skills in working with trauma, anxiety, or related concerns
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, organized, and clinically sound documentation
  • Ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans
  • Experience or training in trauma-focused modalities (EMDR, IFS, CBT, or somatic approaches)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain engagement
  • Comfort facilitating or willingness to develop group therapy offerings

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy to a consistent caseload
  • Build strong rapport and therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Develop collaborative and effective treatment plans that guide the course of care
  • Provide clear clinical recommendations, including frequency and treatment direction
  • Apply somatic-based interventions such as mindfulness, breathwork, or body-based techniques within sessions
  • Maintain timely and compliant documentation, including completion of notes within 48 hours
  • Contribute to the development and facilitation of group therapy or specialty services (e.g., DBT, somatic-based groups, mindfulness, or related offerings)
  • Collaborate with a team of clinicians and contribute to the overall clinical culture
