About The Position

Opportunity for a Mental Health Therapist to work Per Diem. Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11-17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. We are located in Manatee County. Southwest Florida offers a diverse mix of lifestyle options. While most people think of sandy beaches, waterfront views and golf courses when you mention Southwest Florida, this area on Florida's Gulf Coast is rich in lifestyle diversity. Requirements

  • Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC or Registered Intern in the aforementioned fields preferred.
  • One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with children and/or adolescents.
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling.
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 background screening and pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Trauma-Focused Therapy.
  • Knowledge of Neurodivergent disorders, PTSD, mood disorders, and bipolar disorder.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of individual, group, and family therapy dynamics and techniques.
  • Understanding of growth and developmental stages in children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct therapeutic services for patients.
  • Provide counseling sessions for families, individuals, and groups.
  • Interview and develop the psychological history of patients.
  • Assess the therapeutic needs of individuals and families.
  • Develop appropriate treatment objectives and monthly treatment summaries.
  • Act as the patients' and families' primary contact during their stay at the facility.
  • Advocate for patients with the treatment team and coordinate their discharge.
