About The Position

The Family Specialist I provides in-home, virtual, or in-office counseling to individuals and families using a strength-based, attachment-focused approach. You will assess and develop treatment plans to improve individual and family functioning while maintaining 20 hours of direct client care each week. This role requires a high degree of independence, professionalism, and self-motivation.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Must be actively working toward an independent clinical license.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with youth, families, and/or trauma-informed care preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and Treat: Conduct assessments, diagnose individuals, and develop treatment plans under supervisor guidance.
  • Provide Therapy: Deliver in-person and telehealth therapy focused on improving individual and family well-being through skill-building and supportive interventions.
  • Client Care: Maintain 20 direct client care hours weekly while balancing documentation and administrative responsibilities.
  • Crisis Management: Provide responsive, compassionate support during crises as needed.
  • Documentation: Complete all session notes, assessments, and treatment plans accurately and on time.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain referral networks and collaborate with community partners to support client needs.
  • Collaboration: Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and support fellow staff members.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold HIPAA standards and Thornwell’s commitment to ethical and confidential care.
