This position has primary responsibility for mental health services and case management services to adolescents and their families. The Mental Health Specialist (MHS) provides mental health services (including assessment and evaluation) and other services to clients referred to the TEAMMATES programs. Provides therapeutic services including but not limited to individual and family therapy, collaterals, crises intervention skill-building, and treatment planning. He/she acts as liaison with external agencies and functions on teams with other clinical & non-clinical staff. The Mental Health Specialist is part of the Child and Family Team and will assist other team members as needed to provide services to families or assist with case management or developing plans for the family. MHS' will attend Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings and be an active participant in the CFT process.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a Mental Health, Human Services, or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years' experience in the mental health field, with direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed families/children.
  • Experience with high-risk families/children, particularly with children or adolescents with dual diagnosis in residential or outpatient settings.
  • Registered with CA BBS as an MFT Intern or ASW for MHS II; Licensed in California as LMFT or LCSW for MHS III.
  • Valid California Driver's License.
