About The Position

Mental Health Technician (MHT/CNA) - Nights Opportunity Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our four outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression. Visit us online at: https://emeraldcoastbehavioral.com/ The Mental Health Technician (MHT/CNA) works under direct supervision to provide patient care in the treatment and care of patients with psychiatric and substance abuse conditions. Manages behavioral problems and facilitates education and activity groups. Actively participates as a member of the treatment team and performs other duties as assigned..

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of customer service experience required. One (1) year experience in a direct patient care role preferred.
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts, 6:45pm-7:15am
  • Employment with Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital requires successful completion of a Level II background Screening. Responsibilities

  • Patient Observation: Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
  • Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
  • Facilitates patient education and activity groups.
  • Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
  • Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Escorts patients to meals, breaks, and other activities.
  • Promotes a therapeutic environment.
  • Ensures safety of patients at all times.
  • Performs EKG’s and Phlebotomy based on training.
