About The Position

The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania. We are located a short distance outside State College, PA. The Meadows is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has been providing comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults and older adults for over 35 years. Website at www.themeadows.net The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHT’s work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Requirements

A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED is required.
Post-secondary training or education in related field with experience preferred.
Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile.

Responsibilities

Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.
Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule
Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety
Supervise patients in daily activities and assist treatment team with patients to provide therapeutic activities
Document patient behaviors, condition, & progress
Monitors visitation regarding patient safety.
