Job Role Adams Clinical is seeking applicants for the Mental Health Technician role within our inpatient research facility at our Dallas location for overnight shifts. Mental Health Tech plays an essential role in ensuring participant safety and maintaining a therapeutic environment within our overnight inpatient research facility. This position supports ongoing clinical trials by providing direct care, supervision, and engagement with research participants under the guidance of the In-patient Unit Manager, Clinical Research Coordinators, and the Principal Investigator. The MHT also assists with basic clinical and laboratory tasks, contributing to protocol adherence and overall research integrity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be willing to become phlebotomy trained (training provided by site).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with in-patient psychiatric units or working with patients with psychiatric disorders is a plus.
  • Paramedic and/or medical assistant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic interaction and manage behavioral changes using verbal de-escalation.
  • Review handoff reports and prepare detailed shift documentation.
  • Confirm unit transitions, assessments, and research visits.
  • Conduct wellness checks every 15 minutes and ensure proper documentation.
  • Supervise smoke breaks, assist with meals (especially weekends), and evening hygiene routines.
  • Support or co-facilitate scheduled activities.
  • Monitor, assist, and document medication administration.
  • Oversee laundry use and maintain orderly rooms.
  • Follow daily checklist and activity schedule.
  • Maintain continuous participant observation for safety and therapeutic environment.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and participant orientation.
  • Complete all documentation, including incident reports.
  • Collaborate with research and clinical staff for protocol compliance.
  • Manage and document behavioral or emotional escalations.
  • Take vital signs, collect specimens, and perform phlebotomy as needed.
  • Handle, process, and document lab samples per protocol.
