Under the direction of an RN, the Mental Health Technician is responsible for patient safety, welfare, and the implementation of therapeutic milieu and treatment plans. The technician will serve as a patient observer on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require any degree of observation in order to maximize patient safety. Additionally, the technician will perform general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate the efficiency of the nursing unit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years of collegiate coursework in general psychology, interpersonal communication, abnormal psychology, and/or human growth and development preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Handle with Care Certification or CPI within 90 days of hire.
  • One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities
