As a member of the treatment team, the MHT provides continuous care, supervision, and therapeutic engagement to patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Successful completion of CPR and Handle With Care certification; certifications may be obtained during orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and establishing and maintaining good health by using effective, therapeutic communication techniques.
  • Conduct environmental rounds on unit for safety and document observations
  • Facilitate patients’ participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
  • Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff.
