About The Position

South Sound Behavioral Hospital is a compassionate and client-centered behavioral hospital dedicated to providing safe, supportive, and trauma-informed care. We are currently seeking a reliable, empathetic, and safety minded Mental Health Technician/Security team member to join our treatment team. As a Mental Health Technician (MHT)/ Security staff provides direct support, safety oversight, and crisis intervention for clients in our behavioral health hospital. This role helps maintain a therapeutic environment while ensuring all safety protocols and facility policies are followed. Requirements

  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy, psychology, human services or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
  • Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Additional Skill Requirements: May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor client behavior, conduct safety rounds, and maintain a secure environment.
  • Assist with admissions, searches, room checks, and client monitoring procedures
  • Monitor inventory of patient’s items.
  • Accurately record vital signs
  • Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision.
  • Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
  • Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
  • Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.
  • Patriciate in emergency response procedures as needed.
