This role is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides care to patients, ensuring their safety, and advocating for their rights; working in a setting that uses the IPF would likely be involved in the assessment and care of patients with PTSD, using the IPF as a tool to measure and monitor their functional impairment. Providing care to patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environmental/instrumentation, and other health care members. The MHT II functions as a member of the therapeutic team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The MHT II is a safety champion and preceptor for MHT I's.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field required or 2+ years MHT experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • CNA certification - preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Other-Fingerprint Required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and documents on patient care and observes patient behaviors based on the nursing process, established hospital policies and procedures, unit specific policies and procedures, and/or Standards of Care/Practice.
  • Assists in the coordination of nursing/psychiatric care provided in conjunction with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Assists in the development and facilitation of MHT goals, wrap-up, and diversional patient groups.
  • Participates in the safety rounds rotation and maintains accurate and detailed documentation of assigned safety rounds.
  • Participates and cooperates in the unit based Quality Improvement process.
  • Functions as Safety Champion and as a preceptor/mentor to MHT I's.
  • Assists patients with the completion and completion of PHQ-9 and GDS surveys.
  • Observes reports and documents the patient's psychological and physiological status, informing a registered nurse of any incongruences in the above.
  • Practices, develops, and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to patient's right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care, which results in patient harm.
  • Attends in-services presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements to include training & competency assessment.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.
